I cant remember what I was Googling for, but whatever it was I got sidetracked by a blog comment about the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News scaling back on home delivery. If I remember it was about that time the Chicago Tribune declared bankruptcy. For as long as I can remember - thats a long time - the start of my day has been coffee and the local newspaper. Before I start, I organize the sections in my preferred order and dump the classified sections and inserts on the floor. I have to admit the time alone with the paper before the day gets started is more important than whats in it. I think that true for me with books as well. I visit our local library a lot and I love the feel of a book in my hands and the smell of used bookstores. I guess its inevitable that technology will eventually supplant paper, but it wont be the same.
