Having been involved in the computer and software industry forever, Im personally very excited about the new push in tablets. Its not a new idea at all. Does anyone remember Grid Computing? Or Bill Gates' efforts a few years ago?
But, I think its an idea whose time has finally come.
OK, they are just big iPhone-like devices that play movies, let you read books, surf the internet, send documents, make calls, etc...but hey, thats all many people need. Slim profile, light weight, slip right into your briefcase, backpack, whatever.
Sure, they dont run multiple apps, and have limitations, so theyre touting limited demand. But, I think the demand is going to be bigger that the pundits realize. And think about it, how long will there be limitations, especially with so much power built into the phone operating systems now.
I love my Kindle and cant wait to watch the evolution of this technology with all the manufacturers from both PCs and the phone industry duking it out. It will be fun to watch.
